Cerven Cotter

interaction, UX/UI, product & service design

'Design' is my default setting. I am skilled at shaping end-to-end solutions that drive measurable business impact by resolving user needs - leveraging user research to enable visual systems that solve problems that are validated through prototyping and user testing ahead of real world implementation. I combine design thinking with Agile methodologies to solve complex challenges at pace for public and private sector clients. Irrespective of industry niche, the goal is to always use data to define and execute mobile-first user-centred, scalable, and aesthetically strong solutions that transform services, products, and brands.

To compliment my 20+ years of design experience, I am a qualified professional scrummaster and product owner through SCRUM. These Agile qualifications are formal extensions of hands on experience I've acquired over the years working with and helping teams to deploy digital products and services.

I often take on branding (logos, guidelines, visual identity) and print media design related work for small businesses.

Note: Most of my work is subject to NDA's and is the reason why you'll not find work examples or a traditional design portfolio on my website. Contact me if you'd like to see examples of my previous work.

Tools

My toolkit varies depending on the nature of work I am involved in. And in the design world, tools are constantly evolving. On any given day I could be using a combination of the following:

3 reasons to work with me

  1. 1. Adaptable: They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And with every project I've worked on, I am constantly learning new ways of avoiding, and working around, the disruption that real world, unplanned changes bring.
  2. 2. Pragmatic: I know when to take short cuts, and when not too. Process for process sake is a waste of everyone's time, and time equals money. I have a very healthy respect for what is doable within given timeframes and wider constraints whether they be tech, policy or business related.
  3. 3. Not just a designer: Yes, design is my default setting, but I bring a wide range of complimentary skills and insights to the party. I'm always excited to help coach teams on Agile ways of working, empowering people who haven't followed GDS before, and in general filling gaps that need plugging to ensure the success of a project.
  4. BONUS. Have a laugh: No matter how serious, important or critical the work might be, having fun is key.
